New Medical School Opening!!!!
Hey all my premed's out there!!!
I thought that I would share with you that there's a new medical school opening in Camden, New Jersey (I know scary Camden) LOL!! The name of the school is Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Their mission is to seek students that will "Bring value, including those from groups that are underrepresented in medicine." They're looking for first generation college graduates. (WOW! That's the first time I've heard that coming from a medical school!)
The only thing that I found to be a little odd is their required courses verses their recommended courses. Take a look below:
Required Courses (2 semesters/8 credits):
Biology or Zoology (with lab)
General/Inorganic Chemistry (with lab)
English or Composition (1 semester/3 credit)
Recommended Courses:
(2 semesters/8 credits)
Physics (with lab)
Organic Chemistry (with lab)
Spanish
Humanities
(1 semesters/ 3 credits)
Behavioral Science
Ethics
Bio-statistics
Biochemistry
Interesting right?? After reading about the school it kind of puts me in the mind of Osteopathic Schools. They look beyond the applicants grades and MCAT scores. They tend to focus on the overall applicant (the applicants professional and personal history.)
Well based on what I read it seems to be an ok school. For your benefit guys I have provided the link for the school below:

Happy reading!
